General Entry Requirements

1.
Higher National Diploma
-
Minimum entry requirements for the ND programme in the specific field or
their equivalent
-
The ND with a minimum of lower credit pass in the discipline obtained
from a NBTE (National Board of Technical Education) accredited programme.
-
A minimum of one year post National Diploma cognate work experience in
the field of specialization.
-
For the HND Bilingual Secretarial Programme, a pass in French language at
the SSCE/GCE or equivalent qualification will be an advantage. This is in
addition to the above requirements. All candidates will be expected to pass an
intensive 16 weeks French Language Course prior to the commencement of the
programme.

A limited number of candidates with pass in ND Certificate and a minimum
of one year post ND work experience may also be considered for only those in the
Public Service Employment.

A limited number of candidates with pass in ND Certificate and a minimum
of one year post ND work experience may also be considered for a 3 years HND
programme. The candidate will enrol in the ND 11 programme and must obtain a
CGPA of 2.50 and above before proceeding to the regular 2 years HND programme.
2.
National Diploma
- a.
SSCE/GCE ordinary level or its equivalent with credit passes in four
subjects relevant to the programme at not more than two sittings.
- Four credit passes in relevant subjects obtained at the examination of an NBTE (National Board of Technical Education) recognized preliminary ND programme
offered in a polytechnic or similar Post Secondary Technical Institution.
- The National Technical Certificate (NTC) or national Business Certificate
(NBC) with credit passes in all trade modules, four academic subjects relevant
to the programme and at least a pass in English language.
- A satisfactory score in JAMB-MPCE examination, which is conducted
annually.
- Holders of the Advanced National Technical Certificate (ANTC) may be
given advanced placement in the ND programme provided the candidate has also met
the minimum entry requirements into the ND programme and obtained good in the
ANTC examinations.
3.
Pre-National Diploma
For the
Preliminary National Diploma Programme, the entry requirement is GCE O’ Level or
SSCE ordinary passes in at least two sittings in subjects relevant to the
programme in which the applicant will finally enrol.
A.
Pre-National Diploma Science
- a.
GCE O’ Level or SSCE ordinary passes or their equivalent in English
Language, Mathematics and two subjects from Physics, Chemistry, Biology or all
the three science subjects depending on the programme in which the applicant
will finally enrol.
- b.
City and Guilds/WAEC intermediate Certificate and the Federal Craft
Physical Science (Physics/Chemistry).
- c.
National Technical Certificate (NTC) with a credit pass in a Trade and
passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics with Chemistry and one of the
following : Technical Engineering Drawing, General Metal Works, General
Woodworks e.t.c.
B.
Pre-National Diploma Business Studies/Financial Studies
- a.
GCE O’ Level or SSCE ordinary passes or their equivalent in English
Language, Mathematics and any two of the following: Economics, Commerce,
Geography, Business Methods, Principles of Account and Government.
- b.
National Business Certificate (NBC) with a credit passes in a Business
Trade. Mathematics and English Language and two other relevant subjects from the
list shown below. In the case of the Pre-ND in office Technology Management, the
minimum requirement is GCE O’ Level or SSCE ordinary passes in English Language
and three other subjects from the following: Business Method, Commerce, Typing
and Shorthand, Literature in English, History, Religious Knowledge, Geography,
Economics or their equivalent.
